Price increases in dairy products, paper goods, health insurance and gasoline are being felt in local schools - even in the cafeterias. Haverhill schools are considering a 25 cents per lunch increase to cover the rising cost of food deliveries caused by increased costs for gasoline.

Private insurers and patients paid a premium for hospital services at Sierra View District Hospital in Porterville, but Clovis Community Medical Center was a bargain compared with other hospitals in the state, according to a study released this week on hospital costs and charges in California.
